Modern art, my best enemy! On Sunday morning, Mark and I went to the Old Yacht Club in North Point, one of the oldest buildings in Hong Kong (late 18th century I think). This Yacht Club is no longer by the sea as much land has been taken from the sea in the XXth century, so it has been converted recently into a very trendy modern art exhibition center.
L'art moderne, mon meilleur ennemi. Dimanche dernier Mark et moi sommes alles au Yacht Club de North Point, l'un des plus anciens buildings de Hong Kong (Il date de la fin du XVIIIeme siecle je crois). Comme il n'est plus au bord de la mer, puisqu'on a gagne des terres sur la mer au XXe siecle, il vient d'etre reconverti en centre d'expositions tres a la mode.
Most of the art displayed was pure rubbish, but I liked a bamboo sculpture which I found graceful, so I posed my favourite top model under the structure.
La plupart des oeuvres exposes etaient de "l'ordre du n'importe quoi", a part une jolie sculpture en bambou. J'ai donc demande a mon top-model favori de pauser pour moi dessous.
I also really liked one installation of a big mirror reflecting a false building facade on the ground with people posing on the ground but strangely reflected by the mirror standing up. The effect is striking!

J'ai aussi beaucoup aime une installation composee d'un enorme miroir refletant une fausse facade au sol. Les gens posent etendus par terre, mais ils se voient bizarrement refletes a la verticale. L'effet est saisissant.
Art modern is full of surprises, you see 90% of horrors and the remaining 10% are totally worth giving it a try!

There was an optical illusion piece like that, with a giant mirror, here in Paris. It was set up in that interesting arts/performance space they made up in the north out of the old main city morgue. It's a memory from our first year here... Anyway, I'm just catching up on your posts. We've been traveling like nuts. I send you a big hug from here! Sonya
