CHIANG MAI (2) Market (marche et ) and Pra Thart Doi Suthep Temple

We arrived on a Saturday evening, and after dinner, we were told to go to the Saturday special night market, which we did. It was enormous, full of food, of clothes, of  souvenir for tourists, it was very busy but in a friendly and relaxed way. Nobody bothered us begging for money or insisting for us to buy anything. Thai people are smiling, friendly, they are as lovely as their beautiful country.

(jeu de mot Japonais : les mochis sont des gateaux de riz, Kane c'est l'argent et en Japonais, Kaemochi signifie "riche"}

Nous arrivames un Samedi soir, et apres le diner, on nous suggera d'aller au Marche nocturne special du Samedi, ce que nous fimes. C'etait vaste, avec plein de nourriture asiatique, de vetements, de souvenirs pour touristes. Personne ne nous importuna en mendiant, ou en insistant lourdement pour que nous achetions. Les Thailandais sont souriants et amicaux, aussi sympathiques que leur beau pays.

Nous rentrames a l'hotel en taxi mobilette Thai

On Sunday we had booked a (normal) taxi to visit the most famous Buddhist temple 15 kms outside Chiang Mai : Pra Thart Doi Suthep. This very old temple is located on a mountain (1063 m ) at this hight no mosquitos, and a warm temperature.

Dimanche, nous avions reserve un taxi (normal) pour visiter le plus celebre temple boudhiste a 15 kms de Chiang Mai: Pra Thart Doi Suthep. Ce tres ancien temple du 13eme siecle, est situe en haut d'une montagne a 1063m d'altitude (a cette altitude, pas de moustiques et une temperature douce.) 
  

To reach the temple you need to climb 300 steps or to take a cablecar. Then the temple is spectacular, huge, and from up there you have a fantastic view of the whole Chiang Mai.

On accede au temple par 300 marches ou par un funiculaire. Le temple est spectaculaire, vaste, et de la-haut on a une vue fantastique sur tout Chiang Mai.  

 
J'aime beaucoup ces toits dont les sculptures s'elevent vers le ciel.

After the temple (which took us hours to visit) we came back to the hotel and spent a quiet afternoon by the swimming pool, drinking mango and guava juice. In the evening we went to the Sunday night market!!!

   
     

  

Apres le temple (que nous avons visite pendant plusieurs heures), nous sommes rentres a l'hotel et avons passe une apres-midi tranquile a la piscine, en buvant des jus de mangue et de guava. Le soir nous sommes alles au Marche nocturne du Dimanche!!!!

In the market I saw a young man selling a funny musical instrument. He said to me that he made them and show me how he played it. I thought David would be interested and got him one. David new about it and told me the name an Ocarina, he added that this musical instrument was played in South and Central America and in Tibet and that he was happy to get one.

Au marche, je vis un jeune homme vendant un drole d'instrument de musique. Il me dit qu'il les fabriquait lui-meme et en joua. Je pensai que David serait interesse et lui en achetai un. David connaissait et me dit le nom : un Ocarina, il ajouta que c'etait un instrument joue en Amerique Centrale et du Sud et au Tibet et qu'il etait ravi d'en avoir un.
