On Wednesday, we took our big suitcases to the station 10 mn from Keiko's house, and we took a direct metro to Tokyo Station to get the Shin Kansen (high speed Japanese train) to Kyoto. It took us about 3 hours to get there.
Mercredi, nous avons roule nos grosses valises de chez Keiko jusqu'a la station de metro a 10mn de la. Nous avons pris un metro jusqu'a la Gare de Tokyo et pris le Shin Kansen (Train Japonais a grande vitesse) pour nous rendre a Kyoto. Le voyage a dure environ 3h.
We had bought O-Bento for our lunch on the train, and the station had a wonderful selection of food, cakes, bentos.
Nous nous etions achete des O-Bentos pour le dejeuner dans le train, et a la gare, il y avait une merveilleuse selection de nourriture de toute sorte, gateaux et bentos..
The shinkansen arrived and all its passengers got off, then a team of cleaners got in the train and within less than 10 mn they had cleaned all the wagons, changed the side of the seats as the train was heading in the opposite direction.
Le shinkansen arriva et tous les passagers descendirent. alors une equipe de nettoyeuses monta dans le train et en moins de 10 mn, elles avaient nettoye tous les wagons et change les sieges de sens car le train repartait en sens oppose.
Our Hostess in Kyoto Mrs Yuko Fusho came to fetch us by car at the station and took us to her beautiful flat. Her husband had just bought thi flat, renovated it and put some furniture in it, but they did not know yet what to do with it, so it was empty and ready to greet lucky us and Keiko!

Notre hotesse, Madame Yuko Fusho vint nous chercher en voiture a la gare et nous emmena dans son tres bel appartement. Son mari venait de l'acheter et de le renover, puis de le meubler, mais ils n'avaient pas encore decide quoi en faire, il etait donc vide et pret a accueillir les chanceux que nous etions Keiko et nous!
Yuko showed us our rooms, explained to us the bath, kitchen and gave us a map of the area. Then she had to go back to the office.
Yuko nous montra nos chambres, nous expliqua le fonctionnement du bain, de la cuisine, nous donna une carte des environs et dut repartir au bureau.
We unpacked then went to see one of the most famous temples in Kyoto the"Kinkakuji" (Golden pavillon).

Nous defimes nos valises, puis partimes visiter un des temples les plus celebres de Kyoto le Kinkakuji ou Pavillon d'Or.
During the war Kyoto has been preserved from bombing, so many old houses and all the temples remain so the city has a lot of charm. It is forbidden to build higher than 3 or 4 floors.
Durant la guerre Kyoto a ete preserve des bombes, donc il reste de nombreuses vieilles maisons et tous les temples, aussi la ville a-t-elle beaucoup de charme. Il est d'ailleurs interdit de construire plus de 3 ou 4 etages.
The Golden Pavillion is a gem. Some high school kids interviewed us in English to know if we had heard about their hometown Nagazaki. We patiently answered their question, and they advised us to visit Nagazaki too.....

Le pavillon d'or est un petit bijou. Des lyceens de Nagazaki nous interviewerent en Anglais pour savoir si nous connaissions leur ville. Nous leur repondimes patiemment et ils nous recommanderent de venir la visiter aussi.....
Then we visited the temple and it's beautiful garden.
Puis nous visitames le temple et son magnifique jardin.
The night fell as we visited Kinkaku-ji, then we went to the main street of Kyoto and it's market, then the famous distyrict of Gion, famous for it's Geishas and discreet restaurants.. We strolled in the busy streets and found a nice restaurant for dinner. Then Back home.

Nous nous promenames dans les rues commercantes et trouvames un bon restaurant pour le dinner. Puis retour a la maison.
