Our friend Barbara T. lives in Tai Po in the New Territories, and always told us ": "Whenever you want. come to Tai Po, I will show you how life used to be in Hong Kong and how real Hong Konger live.Yesterday, Mark and I took 2 different MTR lines + 1 train to get there and we met Barbara at Tai Po Market's station.
Notre amie Barbara T. habite a Tai Po dans les Nouveaux Territoires, et nous disait toujours: "Venez quand vous voulez a Tai Po, et je vous montrerai comment etait la vie a Hong Kong et comment vivent les vrai Hong Kongais. Hier, Mark et moi avons pris 2 lignes de metro et un train pour nous rendre la-bas et retrouver Barbara a la station Marche de Taipo.
We walked along the very busy street markets, selling local fruit and vegetables.. much cheaper than on Hong Kong Island where we live.
Nous nous sommes promenes dans les marches tres animes, vendant des fruits et legumes locaux... beaucoup moins chers que sur l'Ile de Hong Kong ou nous habitons.
Then we went to see a small museum : The old Tai Po Market station, located where the old Market used to be, and now a charming Old Trains Museum. The train from Hong Kong to Canton, used to stop there.
Puis nous allames visiter un petit musee : l'ancienne gare de Tai Po Market, situee a l'emplacement de l'ancien marche, transformee en Musee des trains. Le train de Hong Kong a Canton passait par la jadis.
It was fun climbing into old wagons and seeing how uncomfortable they used to be in the fifties and sixties...
Ce fut tres amusant de monter dans de vieux wagons des annees cinquante et soixante et de voir combien ils etaient peu confortables.
Then we visited the local small temple.
Puis nous visitames le petit temple local.
after the temple we wen to see the river and and old village.
apres le temple nous allames voir la riviere, puis un vieux village.
Nous dejeunames dans un peit restaurant vegetarien delicieux et rentrames chez nous apres avoir remercie Barbara pour cette jolie visite de Tai Po.
We had lunch in a small but very good vegetarian restaurant et went back home after we thanked Barbara for this lovely visit of Tai Po
