SAI KUNG COUNTRY PARK EAST / PARC NATUREL DE SAI KUNG EST

Yesterday, we asked Cecile, a French friend of mine in Hong Kong, to take us to Sai Kung Country Park in the New Territories. Cecile has lived for more than 15 years in Hong Kong and likes to be a touristic guide for westerners. She organized a car for the 5 of us and her. We were 5 as David is now with us in Hong Kong, so is Catherine, my sister in law and her boyfriend Alain.

Hier, nous avons demande a Cecile, une amie francaise de Hong Kong, de nous emmener au parc naturel de Sai Kung dans les Nouveaux Territoires. Cecile a habite pendant plus de 15 ans a Hong Kong et aime bien servir de guide touristique pour les Occidentaux. Elle nous a organise une voiture pour nous 5 et elle. Nous sommes 5 car David est avec nous a Hong Kong, ainsi que Catherine, ma belle-soeur et son copain Alain.

We did not bring Kai Phong as it was in Sai Kung that a labrador got swallowed by a 6 meters long python. It took us more than one hour to get there from home by car and the driver waited for us at the entrance of the park in Sai Wan, because only special taxis from Sai Kung can get inside the country park. So he waited for us during almost 7 hours.

Nous n'avons pas emmene Kai Phong car c'est a Sai Kung qu'un labrador s'est fait avaler par un python de 6 metres. Ca prit plus d'une heure en voiture pour aller de chez nous a Sai Kung et le chauffeur nous attendit pendant presque 7 heures a l'entree du parc, a Sai Wan, car seuls les taxis de Sai Kung peuvent penetrer dans le parc.

We walked during 4 h on a small mountain path, from Sai Wan to the dam on the reservoir.Up and down, up and down, with a fantastic weather, and a wonderfull view. 

 

Nous avons marche 4h sur un petit chemin de montagne balise,  de Sai Wan, jusqu'au au barrage sur le reservoir. Ca monte et ca descend, ca remonte et ca redescend, avec un temps fantastique et une vue merveilleuse.

Suddenly, the path went down, down, till we found ourselves on a beautifull beach with nobody except a few feral cows, who seemed happy to have company.

Soudain, ca descend beaucoup et nous nous retrouvons sur une plage de reve, deserte a part quelques vaches sauvages, ravies d'avoir un peu d'animation.

        

                               



We walked for 4 hours and arrived at the dam. The dam has a double wall, the first one against Tsunami or typhoon, the second one to contain the artificial lake.

 

       

Nous marchames pendant 4h et arrivames au barrage. Le barrage a un double mur, le premier sert a contenir les typhons et tsunamis, le second maintient le lac artificiel.

On the side, we coud see very special rocks that only exist in Hong Kong and in Ireland. They remain from a former caldera, a volcano's crater half in the sea.

                           

 


Sur les cotes des roches extraordinaires qui n'existent que la, a Hong Kong et en Irlande. Elles sont les vestiges d'une ancienne caldera (cratere partiel de volcan dans la mer)

  

The rocks were sometimes orange, or black, grey or reddish, an amazing range of colors.

Les roches alternaient entre le rouge, l'ocre, le gris, le noir, l'orange c'etait etonnant. 

It took us an hour to find a taxi accepting to fetch us in the middle of nowhere and take us back where our driver was waiting for us... but we were so happy with our walk and I was so proud to have showed to David, Catherine and Alain that Hong Kong is not only skyscrapers but also beautiful nature and country parks.

Ca nous prit une heure pour qu'un taxi accepte de venir nous chercher au milieu de nulle par pour nous ramener a notre chauffeur qui nous attendait...mais nous etions heureux de notre marche et j'etais fiere d'avoir montre a David, Catherine et Alain que Hong Kong n'etait pas seulement des gratte-ciel mais aussi une belle nature et des parcs naturels.
