TRIP TO JAVA BOROBUDUR/ VOYAGE A JAVA BOROBUDUR

Java is one of the 13000 + islands of Indonesia, Java is a big narrow rectangle 1000 km long (Weat to East) and between 300 and 400 kms wide (North South). Java hosts the capital of Indonesia Jakarta where we landed on the international airport before changing to domestic lines to Yogyakarta. Hong-Kong/ Jakarta takes 5 hours, and Jakarta/Yogyakarta takes 46 minutes.

Java est une des 13000 et quelques iles d'Indonesie, Java est un grand rectangle etroit de 1000 kms de long (Ouest/Est sur 300 a 400 kms de large (Nord/Sud). C'est sur Java qu'est la capitale Jakarta, ou nous avons atterri a l'aeroport international avant de changer pour les lignes interieures direction Yogyakarta. Le voyage de Hong Kong a Jakarta prend 5h tandis que Jakarta/ Yogyakarta ne prend que 46 mn.

From the plane on arriving to Jakarta, we could see volcanoes, very impressive!

De l'avion a l'arrivee a Jakarta, on pouvait voir des volcans, tres impressionnants!

We arrived at night to our hotel in a coffee plantation half an hour outside Yogyakarta. This coffee plantation and hotel resort was created by an Italian lady and she made a little paradise there among the coffee trees and the tropical environment. See our bedroom with it's blue-green color.

     

Nous arrivames de nuit a notre l'hotel au coeur d'une plantation de cafe, a une demie-heure en voiture de Yogyakarta. Cette plantation de cafe et son hotel ont ete crees par une dame Italienne qui en a fait un petit paradis au milieu du cafe et dans un environnement tropical. Voyez notre chambre avec sa couleur vert-bleu. 

On the following morning, 27 June, we woke up at 4 a.m to see the sunrise at Borobudur temple. It took us a while to get to Borobudur Temple ( a Unesco World Heritage site) with our guide. We arrived there at night and needed a torch to climb the steps to the 9th floor of the temple still in the complete darkness.

                                     

Le lendemain matin, 27 Juin, nous nous levames a 4h du matin pour assister au lever du soleil au temple de Borobudur. Cela nous prit pas mal de temps pour arriver a Borobudur (Un site repertorie par l'Unesco comme patromoine Mondial) avec notre guide. Nous y arrivames de nuit et eumes besoin d'une lampe de poche pour monter les marches jusqu'au 9 eme etage du temple encore en pleine penombre.

Then slowly the day light increased and we discovered our amazing surrounding : Stupas everywhere and far away, volcanoes. 

                                

            

Peu a peu le jour se leva et nous decouvrimes le temple autour de nous.

Later on as the sky become brighter, we could see mist on the ground, when it became day, most of the numerous tourist went away, but we waited for the sun to rise and that was beautifull.

Par la suite comme le ciel devenait plus clair, nous vimes la brume sur le sol, et quand le jour fut leve, les nombreux touristes partirent, mais nous attendimes que le soleil se leve et ce fut magnifique.

The sun slowly rose and was beautiful on top of the stupas, like a candle, or coming through the stupas and enlighting the Budha inside.

  

 

Le soleil s'eleva doucement et fut superbe au sommet des stupas, comme une bougie, ou a travers les stupas, eclairant le Boudha a l'interieur.

                   

   

"Borobudur is the world's largest Budhist monument supposedly built around 856 AD, 300 years before Angkor Wat and 200 years before Notre Dame", according to Indonesia Insight Guide, " Yet within a century of its completion, it was mysteriously abandonned. At this time too, neighbouring Gunung Merapi (volcano) erupted violently, covering Borobudur in volcanic ash and debris, concealing it for centuries." (end of quotation.)

"Borobudur est le plus grand monument Boudhaiste du monde, probablement construit autour de 856 de notre ere, 300 ans avant Angkor Wat et 200 ans avant Notre Dame." selon le Insight Guide of Indonesia. "Pourtant, il fut abandonne mysterieusement un siecle apres sa construction. A cette epoque aussi, le Gunung Merapi (volcan) voisin etra en violente eruption, recouvrant Borobudur de cendres et de debris qui le cacherent pendant des siecles. (fin de citation).

Insight Guide quotation : "In 1900 the Dutch government...restored Borobudur".(Indonesia was a Dutch colony for 300 years, an English colony for 3 years and occupied by the Japs for 3 years.) "The huge task was accomplished between 1907 and 1911....Unesco was called to direct a rescue operation in the 1960s.... and was accomplished in 1975."

After 3 hours climbing and touring Borobudur, we went to a hill few miles away to have a well deserved breakfast while admiring a view of Borobudur in front of us.

                                              

 

Apres 3h a monter, descendre et faire le tour de Borobudur, nous partimes sur une colline avoisinante, prendre un petit dejeuner merite tout en admirant la vue sur Borobudur en face de nous.

 


La vie est belle! Quel luxe, ne t'y habitue pas dirait Mark le sage. Je sais, je sais et je savoure chaque minute!!!!
