We are waiting for Typhoon Linfa which is heading toward Hong Kong. Linfa caused yesterday lots of floods in the North of the Pilippines and it strenght upon us will depend on its trajectory.
Nous attendons le typhon Linfa qui se dirige droit sur Hong Kong. Linfa a cause hier de nombreuses inondations a l'extreme Nord des Philipines et sa force dependra de sa trajectoire.
If Linfa hits Hong Kong after landing, it should not be too strong, but if it hits us after coming by the sea where it will regain strenght, it can be pretty bad.
Si Linfa s'abat sur Hong Kong apres une trajectoire terrestre, il devrait perdre de sa force, mais s'il nous frappe apres etre arrive par la mer et s'etre renforce, ca peut etre mauvais.
We have already the T3 warning (a typhoon is less than 300 kms from HK) it could change into T8 if Linfa comes by sea and reaches us this evening or tonight.
Nous avons deja l'avertissement T3 (un typhon est a moins de 300 kms de HK) qui pourrait changer en T8 si Linfa arrive par la mer et nous atteint ce soir ou dans la nuit.
I have already put inside all the plants and chairs that are usually on the balcony.
J'ai deja rentre toutes les plantes et chaises qui sont normalement sur le balcon.
Should T8 warning be enforced, I will have to put cell tape on all our windows so that they don't burst shattering glass pieces all over the flat... and we have a lot of windows.. (and a lot of cell tape for typhoon, too).
Si l'avertissemnt T8 est lance, je devrai mettre du scotch sur toutes nos fenetres pour eviter qu'elles n'eclatent et n'envoient du verre dans tout l'appartement... et nous avons beaucoup de fenetres...(et de scotch special typhon aussi.)
We listen to the news or look at Hong Kong Observatory' web site and we brace ourselves for a scary next night... Kai Phong is very nervous and follows me everywhere, she must feel the typhoon slowly approaching. Little by little, the wind is increasing, que sera, sera....what will be will be!
Nous ecoutons les nouvelles et regardons le site web du Hong Kong Observatory et nous nous preparons pour une nuit prochaine agitee... Kai Phong tres nerveuse, me suit partout . Elle doit sentir le typhon approcher doucement. Peu a peu le vent augmente, que sera, sera! On verra bien!
I hope that Chun Wing and his sister Yankiu who will be landing in Hong Kong tomorrow morning, won't be delayed. I wish them a safe journey.

T8 warning has been enforced. everything is still very quiet but it should not last. The clouds are moving fast and the tree leaves are shaking.The air is heavy and sticky.We shall see!
Jeudi 18h :
L'avertissement T8 est lance. Tout est encore tres calme mais ca ne devrait pas durer. Les nuages bougent tres vite et les feuilles des arbres tremblent. L'air est lourd et collant. On va voir!
I hope that Chun Wing and his sister Yankiu who are coming back tomorrow to HK, will not be too much delayed in their flight.
J'espere que Chun Wing et sa soeur Yankiu qui rentrent demain a HK n'auront pas trop de retard dans leur vol.
Thursday 9pm :
So far nothing. It's very quiet, very few cars on the roads as everyone went back home. A little bit of rain, a little bit of wind. Nothing much. It seems that Linfa is coming to us via the Chinese continent so it is loosing strenght and when it reaches us around midnight, there will be squalid rains and wind but not the very bad typhoon that everybody fears here.On one hand seeing a big typhoon is exciting, on another hand I am relieved there should not be to much destruction and casualties.

Pour l'instant il ne se passe rien. Tout est tres calme, tres peu de circulation sur les routes car tout le monde est rentre chez soi. Un peud e pluie, un peu de vent. Rien de grave. Il semblerait que Linfa arrive sur nous apr la terre, le continent Chinois, donc il perd de sa vigueur et quand il nous atteindra, vers minuit, il y aura de fortes pluies, du vent mais pas le terrible typhon que tout le monde redoute ici. D'un cote, c'est excitant de vivre un vrai gros typhon, mais d'un autre cote, quel soulagement car il ne devrait pas y avoir trop de destructions ni de morts ou blesses.

In fact, Linfa (Lotus Flower in Cantonese) was just a storm when it reached Hong Kong. We had heavy rain early morning and strong wind but nothing to do with a real typhoon.
En fait, Linfa (Fleur de lotus en Cantonais) fut sulement une tempete quand il atteignit Hong Kong. Nous eume sbeaucoup de pluie et de vent, mais iren a voir avec un typhon.
