VIETNAM : HANOI

On our 5th day, we flew from Hue to Hanoi (1hour10mn). Once in Hanoi, we visited the Vietnamese Women Museum which was very interesting. Women did most of the rice fields hard work, they looked after the children, and during the war they took part in combats. The museum in that regard was one sided and mostly propaganda but worth seeing anyway.

  

                                            

Le 5eme jour, nous primes l'avion de Hue a Hanoi (1h10mn). Une fois a Hamoi, nous visitames le Musee des Femmes Vietnamiennes qui st tres interessant. C'etaient les femmes qui faisaient le dur travail dans les rizieres, s'occupaient des enfants et pendant les guerres prirent part aux combats. Le musee a cet egard etait unilateral et partisant, avec surtout de la propagande, mais il meritait d'etre vu.

                              

Hanoi : opera 

Then we visited old streets in Hanoi. The yellow buildings were of French origin, during colonialism.

                      

 

Puis nous visitames les vieilles rues de Hanoi. Les batiments jaunes etaient des vestiges du colonialisme francais. 

Near our hotel,we walked along the Hoam Kiem Lake in the middle of which is the 18th century Ngoc Son temple.

Pres de notre hotel, nous longeames le lac Hoam Kiem au milieu duquel est erige le Temple Noc Son datant du 18eme siecle.

  

Then we had a late lunch in one of the old streets, and from the restaurant, on the 2nd floor, we could see the very animated street life, which we tremendously enjoyed.

                            

 Puis nous primes un dejeuner tardif dans l'une des vieilles rues, et du restaurant, situe au second etage, nous pumes contempler la vie de rue tres animee, ce qui nous amusa beaucoup.

Vietnamese people still rid bicycles and wear pointed bamboo hats and carry things on a bamboo pole across their shoulders with a basket at both ends of the pole.

Les Vietnamiens se deplacent beaucoup a velo, ils portent encore des chapeaux pointus en bambou et transportent les choses au moyen d'un long bambou en travers de leurs epaules, auquel est accroche un panier a chaque extremite.

In the evening we attended a performance of traditional singing and music called Ca Tru. Special for tourists so we did not stay long and went back to our hotel where we had dinner.

  

Le soir, nous assistames a un spectacle de chansons et musique traditionnelles appelees Ca Tru.
Special touristes donc nous ne nous attardames pas et rentrames a l'hotel ou nous dinames.

The following day, we were supposed to take a seaplane to Halong Bay, but the freezing weather did not allow the small plane to fly nor did it allow the Halong Bay boats to navigate. (I was very sad and disapointed because seeing Halong Bay was and still is, one of my dreams). After a long wait at the airport, we decided to go back to the hotel and to continue visiting the beautiful city of Hanoi. We will go back to Vietnam to see Halong Bay in a better season. 

Le lendemain nous devions aller en hydravion a la Baie de Halong, mais le temps glacial ne permettait pas au petit avion de voler, ni aux bateaux de la baie de Halong de naviguer. (J'etais trite et terriblement decue car voir la Baie de Halong etait un de mes reves... et le reste encore) Apres pas mal d'attente a l'aeroport, nous decidames de retourner a l'hotel et continuames a visiter la belle ville de Hanoi. Nous retournerons au Vietnam voir la Baie de Halong a la belle saison.
